One Step Behind

I am one step behind at the moment, with Bonnie’s Mystery Quilt – Orange Crush.

I started this quilt to use up fabric that has been in my scrap bin or cupboard for just too long. How come I can’t just give it away or dump it? Well I daresay there are lots of you out there that can answer that question but I am really pleased that I didn’t rid myself of it in that way and used it. When I look at the blocks that I have already finished I can see pieces of fabric from many finished quilts, reminders of the years that I have been doing patchwork and quilting. The quilt is way off from being finished so I won’t make a decision on whether I like it or not just yet.
But here are the blocks from step 5.

The next stage is to start to put it all together.

Wow! Fabulous zingy colours working together. No wonder you are please you didn't get rid of some of those fabrics.

I can't get rid of fabric. Even ugly fabric! I just start thinking about what I could do with it. I guess I am stingy. I like using it, just not giving it away. Your blocks are beautiful.

I can't wait to see yours put together! I kept looking at mine, trying to decide if I liked it or not, because my colors are so muted. I've finally decided that I really do like it - but I think yours is going to look terrific because you are going to have better contrast than I do....

I recently had a big stash clear-out, but still have far too much. But hey - I just might use/need it one day, mightn't I? ;-) x

Yeah, I put in some ancient eeeuuuwww fabrics for the OC but Bonnie did say "kitchen sink" & the orange & other stash colors help to distract from the little uglies! Who said "if it's still ugly you haven't cut it small enough"?
Mine has lots of red & blue too so it will be a QOV.

Your quilt for an hour is gorgeous as well as the other quilts in your pics that I just finished enjoying! I've bookmarked your blog so I can keep up with our stash busting and pretty art quilts.

I like that shade of orange fabric and I like your blue center. Very pretty.

Oh Hi Stephanie! Yes, make a string quilt. I too had waited a long time and it was way too much fun. I think it might be my favorite thing to do now. So little thinking is required and no corners to match or triangles to cut. It was a wonderful experience.

I can't wait to see your orange crush finished. Love those fabrics!

I am laughing at your opening to your post. I sort through my fabric to donate it, and then I can't bare to let go of it. Your Orange Crush is coming along nicely. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Your orange crush is looking good in the blocks - now I'll be watching to see whether you set yours straight or on point!
I am mitreing my borders now so hopefully will upload photos tomorrow.
Meantime Stephanie time to check out my blog!
